Carmen Bowman, author and former regulator who assisted in writing the 12 new federal regulatory requirements pertaining to culture change, speaks about the updated changes and how they apply to homes and to surveyors.

Joanne Rader, author of several articles but most famous for her book "Bathing Without a Battle" is a nurse specializing in dementia care. She had only to hear the screams coming from the shower room to know that the typical nursing home bath was causing extreme distress. To find out exactly why, Rader asked a Certified Nursing Assistant to give her a shower…
Sarah Rowan, PhD, Board of Directors for the Eden Alternative (www.edenalt.org) speaks to the group about how her husband Joseph was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and after several unsuccessful attempts at conventional institutional nursing homes, he went to live in a home that focused on the individual, built relationships and a location where love mattered. As a result of this experience, Sarah speaks all over the world about the importance of person-centered care and tells the story of “her Joseph.”
